simply frabulous: Anja Rubik models Hedi Slimane's SLP collection (and tries to put back the spotlight on clothes)

Yves Saint Laurent, or better Saint Laurent Paris, as Monsierus Slimane renamed the brand, was for sure the hottest ticket of the Paris Fashion Week. Everyone was waiting for the first collection of the new creative director, but it wasn't a love at first sight, at least not for me.
A lot of black, a lot of gothic and a styling that reminded me (probably too closely) of the last Lanvin's AW collection: rock, with a gipsy touch, really Hedi and not Yves, at least on the catwalk.

But far from the pharaonic set of the Grand Palais, the collection shows all the androgyny and sexy flair that I expect from all the collection signed with the name of the inventor of the first feminine tuxedo.

The images presented today show Anja Rubick that channel perfectly what Hedi Slimane can do better: sexy black dresses and fitted pants that, as the story goes, were the reason of Kaiser Karl's diet. The excuse for the release of these terrific b/w images is the launch of the new SLP's website but the real reason, in my eyes, is to put on the spotlight a collection that was overshadowed by the open letter of Hedi Slimane. A big pas faux, that needed to be fixed. Now the question is: will monsieur Slimane be able to accept critics without talking next time?

Era una delle collezioni più attese di Parigi quella di Yves Saint Laurent, o meglio di Saint Laurent Paris, come ha voluto ribattezzarla Mr Slimane, ma devo ammettere che non è stata, almeno per me, un colpo di fulmine.
Molto nero, molto gothic e uno styling che mi ha ricordato da vicino (forse troppo da vicino) quello di Lanvin dello scorso inverno, molto rock, a tratti gipsy e, nell'insieme molto poco Yves, almeno sulla passerella.

Perché lontano dal set faraonico del Grand Palais, la collezione si trasforma e mostra tutto il tocco androgino e sexy che mi aspetto sempre da una collezione che porta il nome dello stilista che per primo ha osato disegnare e proporre un tuxedo per signore.

Le immagini lanciate oggi presentano un'Anja Rubik interpreta alla perfezione in una serie di ritratti in bianco e nero quello che Hedi Slimane sa fare meglio: abiti che accarezzano il corpo e pantaloni pennellati che, come vuole la leggenda, sono stati il motivo della dieta ferrea di Kaiser Karl. La scusa è il lancio ufficiale del nuovo sito della maison, ma probabilmente l'idea è quella di puntare nuovamente i riflettori su una collezione che era stata in parte offuscata dalla lettera aperta scritta dal suo direttore creativo. Un pas faux non da poco, dopo il quale si è dovuto correre ai ripari. Ora la domanda rimane una sola: la prossima volta monsieur Slimane, riuscirà a tenere a freno la lingua?
