simply frabulous: NYFW: when my mind was blown away

There are moments in a fashion week when you just forget everything else and your mind is blown away.
Ci sono momenti datante la settimana della moda in cui ti dimentichi di tutto e rimani semplicemente a bocca aperta.

Have you ever seen Tim Barton's movie The big fish? In one of my favorite scenes the main character sees for the first time the love of his life and, in that exact moment, the time stops, everything is frozen and the only thing he can see is her. Sometimes I have the same feeling at a fashion week: no matter the trend, no matter the look before or the one after, my attention is caught by a detail, a dress, a blink and everything else disappears. It is not easy for it to happen, but when it does the epiphany is complete.

On the catwalks of New York it happened twice, for two collection that couldn't be more different. On one side the black asymmetries and the sexiness of Anthony Vaccarello for Versus, on the other side the white angelic mermaid of Rodarte. Pieces of art that are like candies for my eyes.

Avete mai visto il film di Tim Barton The Big Fish? In una delle mie scene preferite il protagonista vede per la prima volta l'amore della sua vita e, in quell'esatto momento, il tempo si blocca, tutto si ferma e l'unica cosa che lui riesce a vedere è lei. A volte mi sembra di vivere la stessa sensazione davanti ad una passerella: i trend non importano più, non c'è più il look prima o quello dopo, la mia attenzione viene catturata da un dettaglio, da un abito, da un bagliore e tutto il resto scompare. Non è facile che succeda, ma quando succede, non c'è cosa migliore.

Guardando le passerelle di New York è successo due volte, per due collezioni che non potrebbero essere più diverse. Da una parte le asimmetrie sexy di Anthony Vaccarello per Versus e dall'altra le sirene angeliche di Rodarte. Opere d'arte che sono come caramelle per i miei occhi.
