An exhibition in London reveals Kahlo's wardrobe locked up for 50 years.

Frida Kahlo has always been a fascinating figure to me. I find extremely interesting to find in her paintings and in her personal style a reflection of her life, of her pain, her passion, her sufferance, her love. What I adore abut Frida is that everything about her is so intense and full of sentiments and her wardrobe was no exception.
After she died in 1954 her husband and love of her life, Diego Rivera, shut her belonging in a bathroom of La Casa Azul and instructed that the room should remain locked until 15 years after his own death. And so it wasn't until 2004 that the Museo Frida Kahlo could access Frida's belonging and commission the photographer Ishiuchi Miyako to shoot them for a catalogue.
The result is a collection of more than 300 pictures that reveals Frida's style in technicolor: her unpaired shoes and the decorated prosthetic leg are mixed with the traditional Tehuana dress and cat-eyes glasses.
Miyako's work will be hosted in London's Michael Hoppen gallery from May 14 to July 12. A not to miss opportunity for me and all Kahlo's fans.

Frida Kahlo è sempre stata per me una figura affascinante. Trovo che le sue opre e il suo stile siano lo specchio della sua vita, delle sue pene, delle sue passioni, delle sue sofferenze e del suo amore. Quello che adoro di Frida è che tutto quello che la riguarda è così intenso e pieno di sentimenti e il suo guardaroba non fa eccezione.
