simply frabulous: Louis Vuitton meets Yayoi Kusama: the polka dot princess at the court of MJ

The legend goes that the Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama started her career because of an hallucination. She was in the kitchen and suddenly the red flowers of the table cloth started to spread all around.

From that moment on Kusama´s famous polka dots crossed more than 50 years of the history of art and covered canvas, trees, busses, sculptures and now are spicing up a Louis Vuitton´s capsule collection. Marc Jacob, as an art lover, insisted to collaborate with the Japanese conceptual artist, fascinated by her work and her vital energy.

The result is a polka dot, vaguely psychedelic, collection presented a few days ago during the NY première of a retrospective dedicated to the 83 years old artist. The exhibition was presented in Paris, Madrid and London and it´s now laying over the Whitney Museum of New York.
Bags, shoes, sunglasses and trench coats are animated by colorful polka dots, the favorite form of Yayoi Kusama. The Japanese artist declared that she loves the dots as they represent a form with no beginning and no end and for this reason timeless. That's why she decided to name the collection for LV "Love forever", and I am sure a lot will fall in love with it.

Narra la leggenda che l´artista giapponese Yayoi Kusama abbia iniziato la sua carriera dopo aver avuto un´allucinazione in una sala da pranzo in cui i disegni dei fiori rossi della tovaglia iniziarono a diffondersi per tutta la stanza.

Da quel momento i suoi famosi pois hanno attraversato 50 anni di storia dell´arte e coperto tele, alberi, autobus, corpi, sculture, per arrivare oggi a colorare i pezzi cult della collezione di Louis Vuitton. È stato Marc Jacobs, grande appassionato d´arte, a voler collaborare con l´artista concettuale giapponese, affascinato dalle sue opere e dalla sua energia vitale.

Il risultato é una collezione tutta a pois, vagamente psichedelica, presentata pochi giorni fa in occasione della première newyorkese della retrospettiva dedicate all´83enne artista giapponese che, dopo aver visitato Parigi, Madrid e Londra fa ora tappa al Whitney Museum di New York.
Borse, scarpe, occhiali e trench si colorano con i pois, la forma preferita di Yayoi Kusama, che ha dichiarato di adorare i pois perché rappresentano una forma senza inizio ne fine e per questo eterna e senza tempo. Per questo la principessa dei pois ha deciso di chiamare la collezione "Love Forever", e siamo sicuri che moltissimi se ne innamoreranno presto.
