It's not scared to experiment with fashion the 26 years old designer from South Korea Minjum Kim, winner of the H&M awards 2013. Her collection is dramatic and colorful as a Japanese manga that comes to life. Dresses built around extreme volumes and contrasting colors, where small rouches stand on the back as small wings and the hats are transformed in decorated helms created for the armor of a manga warrior.
A collection that is all but minimalist and unexpectedly opened the second day of the Stockholm Fashion Week: outfits full of energy and joy that have in the incredible accessories their strength. Sculptured hats, oversized and structured necklaces and amazing décor shoes define and make shine every dress on the catwalk.
As winner of the H&M award Minjum will receive 50,000 Euros and will have the opportunity to produce a collection together with H&M that will be distributed in selected stores during next fall.
I am really curious to see how Minjum will adapt her magic wold in order to fit into the logic of the fashion market and I really hope that her collection will not lose any of its expressive power. I am sure this will be her next big challenge.
Non ha paura di osare la giovane Minjum Kim, ventiseienne sud coreana vincitrice dell'H&M award 2013. La sua è una collezione estremamente teatrale, che sembra essere uscita tutta di un getto dalle pagine di un fumetto giapponese. Abiti costruiti sui volumi estremi e sui colori contrastanti, in cui le rouches si sviluppano sulla schiena come piccole ali e i cappelli diventano elmi decorativi per una guerriera manga.
Una collezione tutt'altro che minimalista, che è arrivata inaspettatamente, come un fulmine a ciel sereno, in apertura del secondo giorno della settimana della moda di Stoccolma sprizzando gioia e inventiva da tutti i pori. Il suo punto forte? Assolutamente gli accessori: cappelli-armatura ma anche collane oversize e scarpe décor, degne della migliore Miuccia Prada.
In quanto vincitrice dell'H&M award Minjum avrà diritto non solo ad una borsa di studio di 50.000 euro, ma anche alla possibilità di creare una collezione per H&M che verrà distribuita in punti vendita selezionati il prossimo autunno.
Sono davvero curiosa di vedere come Minju riuscirà a riadattare il suo mondo magico alle logiche del mercato, spero davvero che la sua collezione non perderà questa forza espressiva. Sarà questa la sua prossima grande sfida.
