Stockholm Fashion Week: Day three - Swedish Hasbeens

My third SFW day started with a brand that is a for Sweden: Swedish Hasbeens.
Il mio terzo giorno alla SFW è iniziato con un brand che è sinonimo di Svezia: Swedish Hasbeens.

Wilma Rudolph was an American athlete, twentieth of 22 children in a poor Tennessee family. She was born premature and caught an infantile paralysis caused by the polio virus, and for this reason she grew up paralyzed. Thanks to her perseverance, when she was 12 years old she could finally shed her handicap and starting a new life. In the 1960 Rome Olympic Games she was the first American woman to win three gold medals, in track and fields, during a single Olympic Games. She demonstrated that everything is possible regardless race, gender or background.

Swedish Hasbeens SS12 collection - "Better shoes for a better life" - is inspired by Wilma and all the women that stood outside in sport, demonstrating that it is possible to realize a dream and that women and men are equals. I adore this concept, never give up and keep on trying!

A rétro touch and a great attention to natural materials characterize the collection. The proposal for SS 12 is very wide, from shoes influenced by tennis style and booties inspired by bowling to sandals that take inspiration from the flair of 40's, with pastels tones like bubble gum pink, baby blue and mint.

Simply awesome the choice of presenting the collection with a sport performance: very talented gymnasts performed Maria Wahleberg's choreography, creating a magic atmosphere, full of energy and talent, that perfectly expressed the meaning of the collection. Enjoy the video!

Wilma Rudolph era un'atleta statunitense, ventesima di 22 figli di una famiglia povera del Tennessee. Da piccola Wilma fu colpita da una grave poliomielite, rischiò di rimanere zoppa e fu costretta a portare per anni un apparecchio correttivo per camminare. Grazie alla sua perseveranza a 12 anni riuscì a superare la malattia ed iniziò a dedicarsi allo sport. Ai giochi olimpici di Roma nel 1960 fu la prima donna americana a vincere tre medaglie d'oro in una stessa olimpiade, nella corsa. Dimostrò così che tutto era possibile, indipendentemente dalla razza, dal genere e dalle circostanze.

Wilma e tutte le donne che a partire dagli anni 40 che si sono distinte nello sport, dando prova di poter realizzare i propri sogni e di essere uguali agli uomini sono le muse ispiratrici della collezione "Better shoes for a better life" di Swedish Hasbeens. Adoro quest'idea, come si dice...crederci sempre, arrendersi mai!

Un tocco rétro e un'attenzione ai materiali, rigorosamente eco, caratterizza la collezione. Una proposta che spazia da scarpe e stivaletti ispirati al mondo del tennis  e del bowling, a sandali dal sapore anni 40, cavallo di battaglia del brand, presentati in colori pastello come rosa fragola, azzurro e menta.

Meravigliosa la scelta di presentare la collezione con una performance sportiva: ginnasti e performer hanno interpretato la coreografia di Maria Wahleberg, creando un'atmosfera magica, intrisa di energia e talento, che ha espresso alla perfezione in significato della collezione. Buona visione!
